Editing
In this context, ‘editing’ has a broad meaning: it includes ‘editing’ in the specialist’s sense of the word, as well as ‘proofreading’, ‘fact checking’, ‘translation cleanup’, and ‘rewriting’. These are all separate activities for which ‘editing’ is a rather loose but commonly accepted catch-all term.

Writing
There are as many different kinds of writing as there are communicative functions in language, and I make no claim to special proficiency in any but a small number of them. The ‘writing’ section outlines what I do and do not do as a writer, and points you to samples of my work.

Teaching
In addition to my main work as a writer and editor, I also offer individual and very small group lessons in English conversation to adults. Most information about this service is in Japanese, but the ‘teaching’ section also includes pages that may be interesting for learners and teachers alike.
