Who do I teach?

I don’t like to be in a classroom, either as a teacher or as a student, so I work from home offering conversation lessons to individuals and very small groups. The subject matter of the conversations I have with my students is quite diverse: from cooking to business travel, on grammar points or everyday life.

My methods work best with students at the lower intermediate level and above, although I do have a few beginners among my students. Some of my students do homework, and others don’t. I let my students determine our pace and what we cover together.

Who I don’t teach

I am a specialist in individual and small group lessons for adults, so I don’t teach children. I also don’t do ‘travelling lessons’, and I don’t have any kind of relationship with other schools, teachers, or agencies.

Resources for teachers and students

Reference Works

This is an annotated bibliography intended for editors and writers, but many of the books discussed here will also be useful for teachers and students of English.

Teaching Points

This includes techniques that worked or didn’t work for me, and language points of interest to my students and myself. These brief texts are meant for both teachers and students.

More information?

The Japanese version of this page has more specific information about my teaching services: information that might be interesting for potential students.
