First Cat: Dosu-chan

When one of our neighbors moved, this cat was left behind because of his agressive voice. Even though their new rental house does not allow cats, they could take his mother along, because she was quiet. Indeed, he was miaowing by their window very often. When he appeared at our house, he passed the time lying down on our roof, without any voice. Maybe he was weak, or had given up talking. However, the sound of his steps on our roof was so loud, we named him Dosu-chan (Thunderfoot) and started to offer him some food. After ten rainy days, we were worried about him one day, because he didn’t show up at our place. Then a person who lives across from our house told us that she may have seen his dead body when she walked her dog. Chris went to check if it was him or not, and he saw his body: it had been placed in a box with some flowers by a person who knew him. Without sharing his voice with us, he passed away.

Second Cat: Shiro-chan

Shiro doesn’t talk to humans – well, not very much. She doesn’t let herself be tamed by us, either. She seems to get her meals from at least three places including ours. Her time to show up is very irregular, so we wish she’d knock or miaow to let us know. We don’t know how she spends her time; she used to be a pretty white cat, but recently became almost gray. She might have still been young before; she has a dignified appearance now. She looks like a rice cake when she sleeps curled up. If we don’t notice her right away when she shows up, she stares at us strictly from our shed. Of course she is scary for us, too.

Third Cat: Kyoku-chan

The situation changed from last time (see here: ): Kyoku has become our house cat. He has a very nice personality for a former wild cat. (So we think.) We came to know his history from the family of Pusuke-san. (Pusuke is a seventeen year old male dog.) Kyoku was probably taken care of under a different name at Apli-kun’s home. (Apli is a one year old male dog.) We heard that Kyoku – when he was a weak and sick kitten – was rescued by them. However, he was not originally a house cat, so he was a cat who always wanted to go out, even when he was being cared for. So the truth was that he finally somehow decided to be at our house. Because stayed with Apli-kun when he was very young, he still gets along with him well. We don’t know why he can’t get along with Pusuke-san though...

Fourth Cat: Boss Hana

Hana is the boss in our neighbourhood. He is fed by one of our neighbours. Boss Hana thinks he must manage his territory. He also thinks he must manage even the house Kyoku lives in. He leaves his mark here and there. It stinks. But we know that Hana makes himself looks cute for the people who feed him...

(Note: Hana is the name we gave him. Therefore he probably has another name at his own house. And also, we secretly suspect he might be the origin of Kyoku’s family.)
