A little different: summer Kyoku

To tell the truth, since the termite incident Kyoku has been forced into training to be inside the house. It’s because we thought we might have to move from this house in about one year. Kyoku first sneaked in to the house we live in now, but if we have to live in an apartment in the future we can’t live with a half-outdoor cat.

And he had a red rash on his back and at the base of his tail, which looked so itchy. We were not sure why he had it, but guessed his rash was caused by something outside. Actually, his rash disappeared one week after being inside. Clearly he seemed to be less itchy. That was very good.

It turned out that we don’t need to move from this house for a while, but Kyoku’s inside cat training has been continuing. He has a fine toilet but he still wants to go out when he needs to use it. To do it outside is more pleasant? He insists on going out very noisily. However, it seems he doesn’t demand to go out to play or eat as we thought he might. Although we can’t say he doesn’t want those things at all…

Surely, we took away Kyoku’s amusements such as sleeping outside or chasing bugs or visiting someone’s house or bothering some other cats. But we want to avoid his skin trouble. And we also can’t say all cars around here pay attention to a cat who chases butterflies or birds without regard to the traffic.

By the way, in the past month we found some things in his behaviour are different from before.
1– He demands a top-up of additional litter before using his toilet.
2– He never used to come on our stomach or lap in the summer but he sometimes does these days.
3– He really didn’t like the wind from a fan before, but he might not dislike it any more…

We bought an aluminium sheet for Kyoku to be cool in the summer and he used it for the first few days but now he ignores it. (We know he likes any kind of new stuff…) Wooden floors or tatami mats are cooler? Today too he’s lying down with his tummy attaching to the cool floor.
