Hachitaro News, 9 November to 12 December

I was going to make a Hachitaro News ‘Congratulations! 3kg!’ page… but well-grown Hachitaro has already topped 3.2kg. He got his second shot on 21 November and has been doing well as usual. (They say kittens have to get two sets of shots in their first year.) Even though he lives with two other boys, we’ll have him fixed. That’s a plan for early next year.

This winter, we were scared that ‘Active Kid’ Hachitaro and ‘Wild Man’ Kuro might burn themselves on the kerosene stove, so we hesitated to use it and used an oil-filled radiator instead. We figured it would suck up a lot of electricity, but we couldn’t use the stove because we imagined bad accidents. (The extra electricity might be cheaper than a trip to the vet?)

However, it gets chilly fast these days! We realized that the radiator would not be enough to warm up the drafty living room of our wooden house, even though we live in semi-tropical Kyushu. Finally, we couldn’t stand the cold, and set up the kotatsu and kerosene stove. (Of course, we shouldn’t use the kerosene stove when we aren’t nearby!)

Thanks for creating the on-going story of Hachi-taro. He's a lucky fellow to be part of your family!
