Mr C, these days – things he doesn’t want to do

Mr C can’t do what only he wants to do for himself: he has to make a living to support two people and three cats.

Just some days ago, we finally had to upgrade the system for our money sucking computer, and we bought Mac OSX 10.4 Tiger. We wanted to keep using OS 9.2, but it seems everyone else has already upgraded their computer systems, and it sometimes made trouble for Mr C. We carefully compared prices among net shops, and finally ordered it. It arrived quicker than we expected.

There are some little old Mac G3s and a G4 in our house. (If we count useless computers in our house, how many do we have? Our place might become a garbage house some day.) In theory, the new system could be installed smoothly on a suitable machine. However, and I don’t know why, it takes a long time. Somehow it needed a long time for the installation, and there are many unnecessary things he doesn’t want but had to install at first. For a moment, I (who doesn’t know about that kind of thing) thought ‘Did we buy software that’s useless for us? They won’t exchange it after we unwrapped it!’ or ‘Do we have to buy a newer old Mac for the new system?’

C showed me what the new display looks like, and it is completely different from the familiar OS 9.2. The icons are big and they move around meaninglessly when you click them: I almost felt motion sick! Of course Mr C had no choice, so he tried to customize it to be as he wants it to be.

I don’t want to use Internet chat, and I don’t want to see another person’s face through the computer! Well, to tell the truth, I (Y) always want to reject that stuff if I can.
