Today is an anniversary day for me!

On August 22nd, 1994, I flew to the country where I later met Chris, planning to study English for one year.
That summer was also hot. And there was a serious water shortage.
I had forgotten, but it was the day Saga Commercial High School won the all-Japan high school baseball tournament championship. (I heard about it later.)
When my relatives got together for this year’s Obon, one of my brothers-in-law said that he hadn’t been able to follow the game because of my departure (his family came to see me off). So it brought back my memories.
One of my nieces who was there at the airport wondered why I wore such a bad outfit (I later heard). But now she probably doesn’t remember what she said. (Around that time, I wore more Asian-looking outfits. I guess the four year old girl she was at the time probably didn’t understand what Asian style was.)

Today, North Saga High School played in the final championship game of the tournament, and they won. (We didn’t watch the game, but for some reason another brother-in-law called me and reported it to me.)
In 2001, my high school also had a game at Koshien Stadium.
We usually don’t watch baseball games, but we watched that game on TV together. (We usually watch only Sumo.)
When they scored a run, Chris jumped up and hit his head on a doorframe: that’s all I remember vividly.

By the way, I noticed (after Chris mentioned it) that today was the day I had the third surgery on my right eye (under general anaesthesia) last year!
For me, today is a multiple anniversary day!
