Midnight…

It sounds a little late, but we watched Yaji and Kita: The Midnight Pilgrims DVD.

We rented (and really liked) the DVD of the TV drama Tiger and Dragon, which got many-star good reviews.
We weren’t familiar with the writer, Kudo Kankuro, but anyway we rented his other movie.
Many people who reviewed this movie said that it was hard to follow the humour, so we wondered if we would enjoy it. Well, it was all right. We enjoyed watching it!
It just seemed like they wanted to fill in as many stories as possible. And neither of us understood why King Arthur appeared (as the ‘Post Town King’).

Watching the character Chin perform the ‘Song of the Post Town’, I thought about Tim Curry in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). But Kudo Kankuro asked the actor to act like Hedwig & The Angry Inch (2001).

After watching this DVD, the Zazen Boys song used for the main DVD menu (the picture above) got stuck in my head. The vocalist’s voice sounds like John Lydon. While I was cooking, I was thinking about how I like piercing voices like that, such as Tom Verlaine of Television, and Thom Yorke of Radiohead.
And Chris checked out their web site, too.

I’m impressed that Ken Naoko suited the silver hair she had in the movie. I liked it.
Well, I don’t have a mind to mention anything about the story, so please watch the DVD or look it up by yourself.
