Before the cherry blossom front

When I was on my way to a supermarket near our house, I found a cherry starting to bloom before the someiyoshino (the cherry flower that’s used as an index for the cherry blossom front).
I actually didn’t bring a camera with me, so I went again to take photographs after I came back home from shopping.
I don’t know its proper name, but it has small fruits after the blossoms.
(Every year I watch the neighbourhood kids and birds struggle to be the first to harvest them.)

By the way, the day predicted for the cherry blossoms to start blooming this year is 26 March, with full bloom on 3 April in Fukuoka (for now).
Let’s have a flower viewing party this year, too!

The additional image is Veronica persica. (The Japanese name is rather terrible.)
I heard this flower is a naturalised plant that came from Europe in the early Meiji period.
