Rainy Sunday

When we were talking to his mother on the phone, Chris blurted out that I would bake bagels that day.
And there wasn’t going to be any bread for the next morning if we didn’t go out and buy it, but we didn’t go out in the strong rain.

That’s why I decided to bake bagels after a long winter break from it.
Last year I could remember the quantities of ingredients without looking at the recipe.
I baked it many many times last year.
But people easily forget.

It takes more time to rise compared to summer and I worried if our somewhat old flour and yeast would still work or not; but I baked them almost the same as before.

Indeed, our lunch time got to be later than 2:00 p.m. even though I started to make them at 11:30 a.m.
(To excuse myself, our microwave/convection oven is small, so it takes double the required time for rising and baking. And boiling them before baking takes time, too. Our cats also got in my way.)

Anyway, Chris says they were very delicious compared to my first bagels, which were like mochi (sticky rice cakes) because at the time I didn’t know I could use our oven for the rising.
