Flower viewing lunch near our house

When I told Chris that I’d go to the supermarket after the post office, he suggested we eat lunch under the cherry blossoms!

It was a nice day, I didn’t have any reason to object, so I bought box lunches at the supermarket.

We went to a spot in Minami Park, near our house.
Oh! The cherry blossoms are almost in full bloom!
There were many kinds of groups of different generations here and there, and they had already started eating lunch.
Families with their kids, people with dogs, groups taking photographs, a new office worker sitting on a blue tarpaulin waiting for his company’s evening flower viewing party.

Blue vinyl tape marking off a space that was probably for a night-time company party fluttered in the wind.
It was a nice location for flower viewing, so we sat down there even thought we felt it was noisy.

The sunshine was warm but the wind was strong and still chilly.
Our box lunches were not so tasty, but eating them outside made them feel tastier.
(Sorry, we took photographs of our box lunches after we’d started eating.)

It was scenes we see every year, but I wonder: many people are so excited about cherry blossoms – it’s only in Japan?
