With humidity and temperatures rising, rain clouds overhead, and damp seeping in from every open – and closed – space in the house, it looked like time to talk about the weather.

Away: Building, Building

After a break in the weather, the drills and cranes are at it again up the hill. Site preparation is underway for a new block of flats within sight and sound of my study. Without giving much outward sign of it, Ozasa is now in the throes of a housing boom.

The Cardia was a really useful camera to have around: small enough to drop in your pocket, and capable of producing some very attractive exposures. There are always little scenes at the edges of our travels which we want to record and take with us. If they succeed, they take on a narrative quality and a life independent of the original moment.
